5 Ways to Liven Up Your Living Space with Color
Most people feel that they need to start from scratch to revitalize a dated looking space
which in most cases not necessary. You can make a few small changes to completely
change the look and vibe of any room using color. And color is back in style!
Colour sets the mood for a space and can have a
big influence on your mood and emotions.
Red raises a room’s energy level. Yellow captures
the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness.
Blue (my favorite) is said to bring down blood
pressure, slow respiration and heart rate and
create reassurance and confidence.
Amidst the current global uncertainty surrounding
Covid-19, it is not surprising that blue has bee
selected it as 2020 color of the year by the Pantone Institute.
5 of the most impactful ways to liven up a room without doing a complete overhaul using
color are: Paint/Wallpaper, Furniture, Carpeting, Art, Accessories/Pillows
You don’t however have to do all, rather you can pick a few. But where do you start?
- Start by establishing the kind of mood you want to create to drive your selection of
color palette. If it’s happy and cheerful, then pick a color like yellow - Decide what existing furniture you want to keep.
- Decide what other colors if any you want to bring into the
room to establish a color palette. Limit the number of
colors in a room to no more than three or four. Too many
colors can make a room look busy or cluttered.
4. Choose fabrics, carpeting/flooring, art, and accessories
that work together within your color pallet.
5. Finally decide a paint color. If you’re using color in
fabrics and art, likely best to keep the walls neutral.
